The Center itself is small but offers the visitor a chance to step back in time to see how the West was settled and who the people were that felt the calling to build a new life for themselves and their families.
Located along Wyoming’s US Highway 14/16, the drive between Gillette, Sheridan, or Buffalo offers the traveler a panoramic view of North East Wyoming with its rolling hills, wildlife, and the scenic and beautiful Big Horn Mountains.
This route was known as the Black and Yellow Road as it was the main way to get from the Black Hills of South Dakota to Yellowstone National Park. Today travelers are again exploring this as an alternative to the interstate highways crossing the state.
